Have a heart?!
Today in Biology 30 we all gathered around one lab table to see a pig's heart being dissected. Despite using a very old and preserved vacuum packed pig's heart, we were able to still see the pericardium, four heart chambers, septum, AV valves, and blood vessels connecting to the heart. Click on the video below to watch the dissection.

Can Bio 30 really be this funny?
Check out the expression on all of these Bio 30 students as they participate in an enzyme lab. Can Bio 30 really be this funny? On a more serious note, these students are testing the effect of temperature on enzyme activity.

Great news everyone! Cocoa was found after school hiding behind the fridge in my office. He has been safely returned to his cage in the lab and is looking forward to seeing all of you shortly.
Cocoa is Missing!
The hamster has escaped from its cage in the Biology Lab. If anyone sees it in the school, please return it to Ms Roach ASAP!!! Cocoa is reddish brown in color, fits in the palm of your hand and likes honey flavored hamster treats.

First Day of Class OVER!
You survived! The first day of classes is officially over. Consider this a huge accomplishment! You sat through 4 or 5 hours of listening to rules and expectations, procedures and policies, and assessment schemes!
(And yes we will be reviewing these really quick at the start of tomorrow's class.) See you then!

WELCOME!!!
Hi All!
Welcome to Science with Ms Roach. I am SOOO excited to have you in my class. I have designed this blog with the hopes that you will visit it frequently. This should be the first place you visit if you are looking for anything related to the class I am teaching you, namely one of either Science 10, Biology 20, or Biology 30. I intend to record what we did in each class each day so that if you missed, you are able to get caught up. I will also post important due dates for assignments as well as exam dates.
Wishing you the best year ever,
Ms Roach :)
